Me ponders...

Our elders,or for that matter we ourselves take life so seriously at times...

What do u want to become?
What is your purpose in life?
Where are you headed?
How does this add value to u?

Bah..does everything have to be quantified and measured? Is success in life measured by how many awards u bag or the pay package u get? Can money really show one's worth? Is someone who's working in Lehman Bros,New York more 'valuable' than the one working in a local bank?

Life is one which creates another. Leaders mushroom leaders. Money creates more money. Anything that is respected today is coz of its ability to sustain itself against the test of time. Houses of quality werent build overnight.

The point being what is the driving force today? And in the race, how do u emerge 'successful' ? Am touching too many points here, but all of them are rushing in my mind at the same time.

Leave others, what would be my definition of a successful life? What can I say to claim that "I Lived!" ? HR as a profession is no more than a support function. Why am I taking up something like this where I wont be at forefront of any sorta creation? Long term goal would be to train. Train and change lives. And to change corporate life, you need to be a part of it. You need to see and understand from close quarters what ails the corporate soul. What drives and depresses him.

I used to wonder how training could touch, leave alone change, life? But after my Summers and attending a coupla training sessions,I realised what differance an effective trainer can make. People change the way they talk, the way they think!! They come up to the trainer with gratitude in their eyes, thanking him/her for pointing out his/her mistakes and helping correct them.

My life would be successful if I can create.Create a new life, create a new mind,a new line of thinking.Creations which would last and be passed onto generations.Creations which would make a differance in my field of interest, and humanity at large. But creations are first met with resistance. Initially by the mind, then by the inertia. Next by the world. But if the creation can survive the first two,the rest takes care of itself.

Making the mind believe you can do it and then actually getting down to doing it....

Boy,this post sounds more like me talking to myself .... :)

Sameer said :- "Well Z, we live in an age where the ends matter more than the means and it's rare to find someone believing more in his/her convictions than certific(ation)"

To Sameer - Agreed dude, and thats the reason we see people doing MBA and other 'in' stuff jus to gain acceptance and recognition from the society. But it leaves me feeling very uneasy...do I really know what I want? And if I do,what am I doing towards realising it..?

Trust me,am losing my sleep over this these days..:)

Insightful read! My line - Happiness is the sole purpose of my life and i shall achieve it. :)
And for some, happiness may be becoming a sports champ, for some, entrepreneurs...etc..etc..
And for some, it may be money....becoming s/w engineer...going onsite...doing MBA...becoming PMs....
I sincerely hope they find happiness in whatever they are doing. And hope the same for you too.
Cheers!

One of the most brilliantly put lines about life ... from a movie , trainspotting :-)

Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life... .

ppl always love to talk bout doin diff. things. only few actually ve the courage to do it. If MBA defines ur status in the society n ll b a mean for makin more money, the wuz wrong in doin it even if u don like it. else u mus go fwd n bring in a diff. definition. can u do it?? even i m doin a job which always makes me think bout tomoroe n not not bout today. i always think bout whn i ll get free frm tis job in which i dont find any enthusiasm. and tthinking liek this i m losing my valuable today n waitin for some tomorroe which may or may not come. But then luckily i realised tis one day n stopped cribbin bout my work. doesn't mean i started fallin in love wit it. but it is jus tryin to be best in watevr i do.. or say tryin 2 do wit full heart n not botherin bout tomoroe. but always wit tomorroe's plan today.

@ Puneet - Wow..yeh kya tha? :))

@ PyRo - That can be one way of looking at things, when you compromise with your present coz u dont want to ruin your future.

To create something different, first one needs to know where the problem lies. Did you ask yourself why arnt u satisfied with ur current job and/or what could be your dream job? Are you working towards it?

Dont you think a today spent in making a better tomorrow worth it? :)

actually zarine i m not tryin to sound like a pessimist here. i think u din notice wut i said. > "but always wit tomorroe's plan today." < so, i m well into gettin a better tomoroe.wut i wanted to do was to make others realize wut they r doin, in case they are into some situation like tis. only realisations can start the process of change u c.. well, u cudn jus help it cuz tatz wut ppl think of those who talk bout negative subjects like these.
