Music time

Hola! Step 1 over...I start Step 2 today. Yipee! I decided to organize my huge music collection and while at it...I decided to create playlists. The first one to form, of course, was the romantic songs (Nikhil - stop wincing) Here's the English collection of romantic songs. Not in any particular order...not even alphabetical:- I don't want to miss a thing - Aerosmith Aint no sunshine - Al Green (Notting Hill) You belong to me - Jason Wade (Shrek 1) I'd love you to want me - Lobo Love Story OST - Andy Williams All I want is you - U2 My heart will go on - Celine Dion (of course! ;) ) Endless Love - Lionel Richie & Diana Ross I will always love you - Whitney Houston Now and Forever - Richard Marx Stand by me - John Lennon When you say nothing at all - Ronan Keating I will be there for you - Bon Jovi Can't help falling in love - Richard Marx How deep is your love - The Bees Gees You're beautiful - James Blunt At Last - Etta James (it should be ...

Hey... : ) ! Today was one of those days when you hear from an old acquaintance and just can’t help smiling. Flashback – 15 years ago, we left a wonderful township to move to another city. My first best friend, C, comes from this place. Mom’s best friend S Aunty also hails from this place. S Aunty had 2 sons A & D. A was in the same class as my lil bro & Aa was 2 years younger to them. I still remembered these 2 brats as naughty boys who just wouldn’t sit still. Cut back to the present. Dad’s best friend P’s son N is in love with S Aunty’s niece. How they got to know each other is a LONG story. Now, mom, dad, sis, P Uncle & Aunty & N have gone visiting S Aunty and her family for a formal marriage proposal. In between all of this, I get a call from A. A’s exciting voice from other end of the phone goes “Di, guess who?!!!!!” To be honest, I didn’t have a faintest idea A would call, so I couldn’t guess...but when he let me know, I couldn’t stop smiling. What mo...

Nice nice day

Ho hummm...feeling light and airy today. My new role worked out (thank god!) and am involved in coupla good projects. I love the way my blog looks...infact, now that I think of it...I should've archived all the screen shots of the themes I had for my blog...considering I keep changing them every 3-4 months..those would be a lot! So generally folks...keep cribbing and cheering....life rolls on.. :) © Z

Eid Mubarak

Eid marks end of Ramadan...a month which teaches you the virtues of Will Power & Control. Control your temptations, desires & everything which you'd normally go overboard with ;). God bless...we all need Him. © Z.

Travel Journals

There's something about travels. After reading this by Vipul, I took a trip down the memory lane. I aint someone who enjoys traveling. Or so I thought. It turned out to be one of the thousand things which I think I dont like and end up doing. Shows how warped my sense of my own liking & disliking is :). I discover that I dont like lengthy commuting...which am sure most of us dont. Coming back to the point, there is something about traveling & journeys. I've been to just 3 places wherein we just backpacked and left. Agra, Mussorie & Manali. There's this suspended feeling...you know...you are in a place where nobody knows you...every moment is a discovery...you try to hold on your own when your being actually wants to get lost amidst the unknown crowds...you feel so...fulfilled. The feeling makes you realise there's so much more to life than office & home drudgery. It's been close to 6 months since my last travel...but I can still recall how I felt...

Finally my own!!

Phew!! After much deliberation, procrastination, frustration & desperation I've designed my own blog template. Right from the background, header, dividers, font to spacing et al . YES!!! Need to fix few issues in this one as well...dunno why it loads to the rightside before centrally aligning itself....any thoughts? Edit:- Now my Almighty knows how many changes I've done to this blog to finally reach here. This look is better than the chocolate one. Very spacious...has a nice airy feel to it. This stays. Till I start getting those template change bouts again!!! © Zarine.

M&A

Merged my new one with the old one...yooohooo!!!!!!!!! © Zarine.

Damn, letting go can be tough. But it's an exhilarating feeling once you that. Am letting go of my life...stop being a control freak. There's no point losing your cool over something you have no control over. On the ones you do, why lose control when you can mend it right? Dont control...other reactions, their expectations, the outcomes, their thoughts, your fears, your heart, your mind & "the-way-it-should-be"s. And voila! You'll discover how much you've been missing in life! And a parting line from one of favt songs :- When you want it the most there's no easy way out When you're ready to go and your heart's left in doubt Don't give up on your faith Love comes to those who believe it And that's the way it is And this is for my best buddy :- I can read your mind and I know your story and I see what you're going through yeah It's an uphill climb, and I'm feeling sorry But I know it will come to you yeah When life is...

Mwwaahhhaaahahahaha

A new template! YOOHOO!

Cheers!

Time to celebrate!! In the past few weeks…I was so bogged down by work that my morale took a hit. A nice hit, at that. Work work work. But as things go, one has to keep working and slogging. Then popped my Super boss. He wanted me to design the career path program for one of overseas operations. Okay….and what inputs do I have about their profiles?…Not much....Okay…Can I have a look at their performance management system to design the criteria?....No, there isn’t any in the first place….Okay…Any Ops plan to figure the Org development chart?...Nopes….Cool…How long do I have design this ‘career path’?....3 hours….Fantastic….Atleast let me know what these people are supposed to do post promotions, so that I can design a competency map???....That’s available!...Thank Great God…Life’s not that unfair, after all! So basis the ‘inputs’, I design a career path…not just 1 level but a level above that as well. Mail it to him. He mails it to his Boss…she shoots it down with 3 questions…he br...

Uh oh..Sorry!!

Hmm...goof ups...mistakes...galtiyaan. Kisse nahi hoti? Mujhe se bhi hui hai, My Lord!! Jaise ke:- Clicking reply on my own mail and then sending the reply to myself :| It was meant to be forwarded!! Confusing 2 associates with same initials and then sending the wrong one for redeployment. Poor thing, she was wondering why I wanted her to move out! :)) When not aware of a particular policy, trying to figure it out through common sense. Lesson learnt :- Not all policies are common sense friendly. Changed the date of a major event and forgot to inform all those involved! :| It was a BAD experience! :(( **Added after Vipul's comment** - I had to draft a mail whose recipients were all the top honchos. I very meticulously wrote it...checked and rechecked the sentences, spellings..even read the sentences out aloud to see how they sounded! (DuH!). After a thorough check....clicked "Send". A minute later, one of them replied with a curt 1 sentence mail :- "Mails shoul...

I love my job (Just realised!)

Lil amusing that I havnt blogged about my work life yet!! But me being me, sigh, anything is possible :). I'd rather talk about how it feels being an HR Professional. You are expected to know all the answers, be it policy related or "why my salary hike isnt reflecting in my pay slip!" sorta queries. You get invited to every team's offsite and parties. None wants to be in HR's bad books, you know ;-) You gotta be empathetic towards the other members (I hate calling them 'employees', dunno why!)...doesnt matter if you've had a bad day, you just cant pass off the heat to them! Ops (Operations i.e) would love if you said 'yes' to whatever practices they're following. Say 'No' and then you get to see the real drama unfold :). It's imp that the top management buys in your ideas, else none below them will respect it. You touch lives directly. The smile/gratitude one gets to see when an associate gets the kinda project he wants or has h...
