When it rains, it pours

The last couple of days have been such a roller coaster emotional ride. Not in a sob sob/ grin grin manner, but I feel some sort of realisation..a dawn..turning a heavy duty page over sorta feeling. Negative people seem to take disproportionate time of your day, compared to the positive ones. While the definition of positive and negative essentially is people who you find agreeable or not, but one seems more obsessed with converting the negatives ones over instead of consolidating the positive ones. It's akin to conquering more terrain while leaving the already conquered in a 'maintenance-only' mode. Why is it so important for everyone to agree with you? That's the first of the warning signs of narcissism.  Husband pointed out that I'm not very good at 'giving it back' to the nasty ones and tend to internalise it. That my relationship with such folks has a very very long tail before it finally tapers off into oblivion. There will always be this finite ...

I love hot chocolate!

I came back from work and headed for the hotel lounge. I was generally browsing through FB, et al and ordering nachos in steaming cheese with a cuppa hot chocolate (yes, feel jealous, thats the whole point ;) ) when I thought of making this post. Its a serious kinda post. A good ol friend gets married this month. Dude, you have been part of my life and part of this blog. We wish you a content life ahead...the one where each moment is cherishable. Which brings me to the point that all the readers of this blog are single. Now that this dude gets married, mebbe we should revoke his access to this blog :P Have we ever thought how greedy we can get in life? more often than not this leads to not so good situations. when a guy and gal are good friends, when does it change to love? when do u know u r crossing the line? what is it about the relation that makes them want to take things forward at the risk of their friendship?all the guys i was in love with were my friends once, except for ...

You need all the ingredients, sir

Nicely put by Seth . It's increasingly common...this kind of thinking. Do your own stuff, be accountable, dont be the victim, be the change you want to be and so on. What gets me thinking is....if so many of us are thinking in this direction, why are so many of us still cribbing too? Thought is the first step towards action but many a times, it's just not enough. One also needs vision...the vision of how the changed state will be. One also needs reasons...reason why the change needs to happen. One also needs guts...to make the change happen. And above all...one needs conviction...that the change HAS to happen. So while someone's job may suck and thinks he deserves better....he'd need a lot more than that thought. © Z.

When the going gets tough...

...don’t lose your manners. Being in HR, I’m a recipient of all kinds of resumes, CVs, bio-data, profiles, what-have-you. The first thing that strikes me about job mails is the lack of effort, interest and respect displayed by the applicant. For most of them, there’s no formal addressing. It begins with “Hello. I’m blah blah blah”. And God bless those ones who “expect a favor from you as he/she are alumnus/ X’s cousin/ Y’s colleague/ Z’s daughter in law” Excuse me, but none of the above obliges me to consider your profile for my organization. Period. What follows next is the grief story on why he/she wants to switch. Okay. Whatever. The worse are the concluding remarks. “I expect a positive response at the earliest” or “Keep me posted”. I just can’t help laughing at such mails/ cover letters. Which brings me to the point of cover letters. These days, thanks to the numerous consultants and job portals, applicants don’t take the pain of drafting a cover letter. It was on...

Some Saying

A bird sitting on a branch does not feel scared of the branch shaking, coz it doesn’t trust the branch...it trusts its own wings.

Dont let go

The presence of Love in our lives is seldom noticed till it goes missing. Its presence becomes a default requirement...a taken for granted virtue..something we dont spare much thought for. Spend a lonely hour, a day filled with emptiness, a life recalling memories and imagining what could have been, make you realise Love is such a precious thing. You cant trade it off for anything else...its all compromise thereafter. Love comes in all ways & forms unimagined. It's those few who realise just in time and hang on it...the remaining keep searching for what was theirs once. Aaye tum yaad mujhe...gaane lagi har dhadkan... © Z.

Do Distances matter?

There’s this friend of mine who I met over the Net. I still rem’ber his first line…it was “How shameless can you be?” And the topic in question was my making blind guesses in the Quant section in CAT 2003. I don’t rem’ber my reply though…I jus recall I was a lil taken aback! It’s been 4 years now. We’ve met thrice. But he was always there when I needed him. I hope it was vice versa as well. We talk like 2, max 3 times in a month since we got working. Imagine meeting someone who’s so close just 3 times out of the 1400 days that you know each other. And actually, if you add up the time we spent with each other on these 3 days, it’ll add up to just a day!! He’s someone I’m proud of. He reinstates my belief about relations being all about minds connecting & staying in touch. Distances…they come in between if you let them.

Do saal

In another week, I’ll compete 2 years of my ‘professional life’. Ah! 2 saal. Those first 3-4 months…I remember them so vividly. Eager & hungry. Full of energy & promise. Smiling at everyone….bright new mornings…chirpy self…enquiring mind & observing eyes. 2 years….what has changed? Definitely have subdued down…don’t jump the gun anymore…take more informed & calculated decisions…don’t fret & fume over escalations…can handle pressure better now…know who to smile at…know what to ask & to whom…can manage time better…and most importantly…know where I’m headed now. Net net..it’s been a good 2 yrs…with a fair share of ups & downs…and I’m loving it! Yakkkuuuu!!!!

Life Matters.

What or who matters in life? Does life itself matter? Can one just live through it as if in a hazy dream? Or a hazy nightmare? I so often catch myself wondering what's the purpose of living? Why do we live? No, it's not one of those "purpose of life" discussions wherein you try to figure your mission on this planet. It's a one wherein am questioning the need for life on the planet itself. There has to be more to it than a mere creation of God, sent on this planet as a punishment for Adam & Eve's deeds. There has to be more than just Good vs Bad, more than Us vs Them. Did God create us to check how we combat temptations? Is that all? How we respond to crisis & how we uphold our integrity? All this....this suffering...this violence...the joys...the happiness....the manipulations...the honesty...the whole hog...all to test the being? For what? And why? Family ties, friendship, enmity, betrayal, tears, sacrifices, testimonies...for what? Is the fear of God...

Art of Detachment

And the second in those series....Boy, I made lotta sense back then too! :)) Continuing from the previous post, a key element in loving yourself is taking care of yourself. Again, easier said than done. Why does it hurt so much when people walk away from your life? Why does one feel so lonely and down? How can someone have the ability to cause us pain in such a capacity? Why cant people let go easily? Why are so many tears and heartbreaks a part of the process? Nothing lasts.Really nothing does.At the end of the day,you are all by yourself. And most of the time, you are either sad or just plain blank. You wish for someone who could've being there to share your blues, but the stark reality is...even if someone is there,s/he wont be there forever. Rem'ber before those presentations/speeches/plays in front of an audience, no matter how much anyone told u to be confident, you always had to have a lil talk with yourself , assuring yourself that everything would be ok ? Tht "C'mo...
Something that I posted 2.5 years ago...still applies... I get hurt. Mebbe others get hurt too.And cry too.And get fed up of crying.Chuck everything, and say "To hell with this world"..decide to move on.And find themselves crying again. From my observation, good and nice people cry more.Coz u wouldnt come across bigger fools than them.Am not talking abt goodness or being nice as foolishness. The problem arises when they expect others to be good too.Why will others be good to u? Jus coz u were good to them? Ha! Quid pro quo works only if someone is rubbed the wrong way.Otherwise people are happy for being treated nicely and conveniently forget about it. To be loved in return. The eternal human need.Love.People want to love someone. And want to be loved in return. And my god, what all they endure for this! If only a fraction of that effort was spent in loving oneself... Ever thought if you love yourself? How much? How do you love yourself? What do u do when you love yourself? Why is...
